Deep within the grimy streets of Montreal, dwells a band of furry songsters. Delivering pure rock n' roll rage (while promoting cultural awareness) since 2010, "the pinyin pals!" still lead the very exclusive cute-punk dance-surf indie-pop scene in the city. Originally armed with just a broad sense of direction and deceptively cute hats, this legendary alliance blended Western and Eastern elements to create a fun new sound to bridge the perceived gap between Chinese and North American culture.
The pinyin pals!, which consists of Leona K. Bonesaw (Vocals), Jubal K. Bloodaxe (Guitar, Vocals, and Zhongruan), Jeffrey K. Doomhammer (Yangqin and Guzheng), Casimir K. Hellscream (Drum 'n' Bass), and Annie K. Fiddlesticks (Beatmaster), enchants as well as intrigues their audience with catchy pop riffs that pop out from the raw dissonance.
Although the pinyin pals! were forced by the man to go on hiatus, two brave members, Jubil K. Bloodaxe and Jeffrey K. Doomhammer, decided to make some bedroom recordings anyway. This is their story. Tracks below are from the pinyin pals!'s Quincy Bedroom Recordings. For more, visit the sites below:
